December 31, 2005 - We made it to the grand opening of the new Seneca Niagara Hotel and Casino to celebrate New years Eve and usher in a new year while expiriencing the fresh face of downtown Niagara Falls. The new digs are certainly impressive in a town that has`nt seen much in the way of truly modern development in quite a long time. The four star hotel accomodations leave nothing to be desired with in room jaccuzzis, large screen tv`s and views of the area that have never been had before.

The new casino floor is quite impressive boasting a modern feel more reminiscent of the new Las Vegas filled with many new video based slot games and expanded space for more table games. It is connected to the original gaming area through the non smoking part of the casino. This makes for a nice layout giving you plenty of options as far as where you feel comfortable and whether you like to be near a bar, the live band, or tucked away in a quieter corner to game in relative peace.

Our evening was pretty laid back as we seemed to wander around quite a bit people watching and trying to take in all the new features and decor. Being New years Eve we tried to just take it easy and enjoy the night for what it is. Bringing us to gaming our party was also pretty low key while sampling many of the newer machines and the gaming area in general. One thing we noticed was that despite the holiday there seemed to be no trouble playing th egames that one wanted without a wait. And though there was a nice crowd there to celebrate in fact it did not feel that crowded at all. With the expansion it simply felt more like a bustling weekend night. We donned our party favors and toasted the end of an old year and rang in what will surely be a new era for this great city.

Fall 2005 - A trip to the Niagara Fallsview Casino resort in Niagara Falls Ontario provided a wonderful night of gaming and casino adventure. Our crew arrived around 8:30 to cruise the floor and scope out our target areas for the evening.

I must say that the Fallsview really has the Vegas feel down. The sounds and the lighting just right set that sparkle in motion that brings you into the experience. And the games played in the same respect. Slot machines were very good to us and it was`nt hard to find one out of ever handul of machines that had some play in them. One smaller jackpot was had by yours truly and combined with other action brought our nights wagering at it`s 3:00 am finish to a loss of $25. Not bad for six hours of entertainment! And that included coffee, drinks and a few a la carte items from the lower food court in the mall area.

I must say we did`nt seem to focus on much more than some gaming and drinks but all in all I think we`ll be seeing alot more of the Fallsview Casino in the future!

May your playing be prosperous!

September 25, 2004 - It was high time and the lure of good food was too great so our crew made another visit to the Seneca Niagara Casino to try out a newer feature. We made reservations, which are recommended by the way, to thier newest steakhouse The Western Door after hearing good reviews from several of our trusted sources. The restaurant has a comfortable yet still upscale feel with a lounge area immediately through the entrance with a cocktail bar at the fore end and the rest full of plenty of couches, chairs, tables and comfortable seating for either waiting on your reservation or taking a few to relax. We were pucntual and so preceded right to the hosts station to be greeted and attended to immediately upon eye contact. The hosting desk is immediately ahead in the entrance to the formal bar area with a clear runway to the dining area. The dining area has two main apparent sections off of which are various nooks big enough to accomodate larger parties and rooms which maintain a bit more seclusion from the other patrons including veranda like doors that could be closed for privacy.

The kitchen is clearly visible and located at the rear of the restaurant which allows one to view the workings of the entire kitchen as they command thier magic orchestra of food. It is here where they prepare the fare which consists mainly of an array of steaks and chops along with seafood flown in fresh daily from accross the globe. Everything is served a la carte. The menu offered a few nice suprises of variety and an ample selection of salads side dishes and accompaniments. Also offered and worth mention is a nice selection of local wines and brews from around the region which furthers the opportunity to try something new.

Service was near impeccable with two servers attending to each party allowing seamless srevice and trasition through the stages of the meal. It begins with drinks and moments later the bread basket consisting of 5 types of bread with two dips and whipped butter to go with. Our entrees arrive perfectly timed and were well presented and excellently prepared. But I must say one of my favorite parts was the bleu cheese accompanying the organic greens salad which melted in ones mouth! Some tastes just make a greater impression and cheese is one of them.

Deserts are also available and treated in kind with everything else as well as the coffee accompanied by whipped cream and shaved chocolate on the side adding to the usual cream and sugar options. During the evening were witnessed several occasions of wines being served and the martini cart being wheeled to tables for fresh table side cocktails.

All this made for some very nice details that come together for a great dining experience! After all the world of gaming is part of the world of entertainment and in so know how to treat thier patrons in kind. They are the stars and The Western Door rolled out the red carpet!

So you wanna know how the gambling was? hehe Okay okay we know at heart we are there to play baby! So play we did. Unfortunately for us our gaming was less than profitable that night but we had fun and sure did`nt let it go easy! After ups and downs and a bit of this game and that and no particularly breaking news we left sated both in a culinary capacity and our fill of gaming entertainment.

Until next time enjoy and let luck be your lady!

May 16, 2004 - Another trip to Seneca Niagara Casino finds the parking facilities getting our stamp of approval. Aside from no charge it is well lit easily navigable and provides fast access to the casino entrance from most all areas of the structure. Our gaming was mostly reserved to a few bouts with various slot machines but we wanted to get a look at the new poker room and on the way through the casino floor noticed yet more gaming tables going up which should be a welcome sight especially on those busy weekends! Okay you want the lowdown! We found the fifty cent slots popping out some nice little payouts countable in hundreds in short time. The foray to the dollar and higher areas found us a few machines that played for a good run though as is easy to do it went back in. But several patrons were seen staring at jackpots on the reels with the sound of more in the distance. So instead of leaving ahead by a few we opted to spend the portion of our entertainment fund and head for home base before the sky began getting light. We as I`m sure many of you also are looking forward to the opening of the Fallsview Resort Casino in Ontario Canada. The summer looks exciting and the vibe is spreading through the whole area little by little!

Update Spring 2004 - A brand new parking facility was opened at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. The structure is attached to the casino by way of an elevated walkway that affords patrons easy convenient and much more sheltered access into the casino. A major plus for visitors who may have found themselves with a parking ticket upon leaving to go home and a big bonus in the colder months!

Tuesday August 19, 2003 - It`s been several months since the last installment but there have been several more excursions to Seneca Niagara Casino. Though not all as profitable they were none the less enjoyable experiences. But in recent months the casino has seen the additon of a rather large non smoking area offering all the same games found on the main casino floor. It`s located on the south side of the building and integrates quite nicely with the existing layout. Their entertainment venue continues to attract big name talent and well known national acts spanning the gamut from comedians to country acts to rock and blues icons. Progress continues and with more expansion planned look forward to more world class gaming entertainment in the reawakening honeymoon capital of the world!

Thursday January 23, 2003 - Our two man crew rounded up for a trip to the Seneca Niagara Casino in downtown Niagara Falls New York for some early evening entertainment. We arrive at a lot on the north side of the casino at approximately 6:45pm from the Niagra Street entrance. It provided us with a 2 minute walk to the rear entrance to the casino which is very nice when the weather is as it was a crisp 9 degrees farenheit. So we did a walk through and proceeded to the coat check to lessen our burdens. With all deciding we were hungry enough to eat we headed straight for the buffet. For $14.99 per person a fairly extensive buffet awaited. We were promptly seated and placed an order for our drinks. Then we were free to decide where we wanted to start as there were several areas to the buffet. A wide array of seafood, meats, asian cuisine, fresh soups and salad bar as well as a dessert bar that looked very hard to pass up.

My meal included crab leg clusters, a mussel dish very much remenicent of cioppino and grilled chicken with a fresh cucumber and onion salad and a bit of a pickled eggplant salad. Other samplings from the table were italian sausage, eggplant parmasean, lo mein noodles, steak and several other accompaniments. Everything from service to food was very good and finding something enjoyable to eat did`nt seem to be a problem for anyone. Deciding we had had quite enough food it was time to hit the gaming floor!

One of us headed for the tables and one for the slot machines. I volunteered to take the slot machines because after all they are to me a true symbol of a casino. That and I get lucky once in a while! hehe So starting out light I wander through the quarter machines for one that will get on a pay streak for me. I check back at the tables after a bit to see our friend catch a multiple hit on the roulette wheel for a nice stack of chips. I wander on. After playing a few different machines which did payout in the 100 coin range and using it to search for "the machine" my partner soon arrives back from the tables with no good news. He played it out for a while and was in for $100 after which he joined me a the quarter slots as I played out he last of my bucket of coin. It was still fairly early and I was ready to head over to the dollar slots for some real good old fashion gaming fun! Ladies and gents time and again I tell people looking to win maybe a few bucks on a shoestring budget. Find yourself a low max coin machines with small to medium jackpots in the one to several thousand dollar range and just keep playing a few coins in machine after machine until you find one that is in a pay cycle. It should`nt take long before you have a quick hundred bucks in your hand! The big trick is stopping there instead of playing on for more! Anyhow we head to the dollar slots. I hit my first machine for $20 dollars in coin and play a few and no sooner hit a payout for $150! It`s on! I play that out to one hundred before moving to another machine. My next pick further down the same bank of machines quickliy hits for fifty and then another fifty so I`m playing it out now. After a bit of the old up and down I cash out from that slot machine for another 200 coins. Not a bad haul! Though I did have to wait for an attendant due to the machines hopper being empty I walked off with two buckets full of dollar coins which cashed in for $325. It was now about 10pm and though I was ahead my partner was not. Alas with an hour of fine dining and two good hours of gambling we decided to head for home. Mission accomplished and another fine evening of gaming in Western New York!
